IPcom Launches Roaming Data Alert Solution
14.06.2010
To reduce the shock level, IPcom Technologies' newly launched Roaming
products Suite, called 'Data Alert,' is a powerful tool for preventing
subscribers' bill shocks caused by using data services while roaming.
Since subscribers do not receive data usage updates in real-time, they may remain connected for hours as if at their home network. However, at the end of the month, they receive the bad news: they owe a huge amount of money for data services. With Data Services just launched, this will be a thing of the past as this product is available for GSM and CDMA networks. Enrique Steynberg, CEO of IPcom, said, "We are always listening to the market and identifying operators' needs upfront. Data Alert is a new product which will help operators maintain their customer satisfied by keeping them updated. This service is being deployed in 12 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region, and we are sure that it will soon succeed in other markets around the world." Data Alert allows operators to notify subscribers of their data consumption in, or nearly in, real-time mode. The product comes in different flavors: configured only to notify data usage to subscribers by sending a SMS after each session, or based on different thresholds (money, kilo bytes, certain period of time, etc.); and also configured to work as a real-time prepaid system which will drop the connection once subscribers reach a defined credit or bytes limit. The EU has already regulated data usage while roaming, and it is known that the FCC intends to regulate it as well; Data Alert fulfills these regulations and much more. Data Alert is part of a set of IPcom products geared towards providing end users more control of their expenses while roaming. Other products of this family are Voice Consumption Alert and Prepaid Roaming Bundles for postpaid users.
