PureVoice from Ooma Delivers Pure Quality in VoIP Calls
04.06.2010
In the world of communications, one thing that still reigns supreme is
the quality of voice calls. This is especially true with VoIP, as more
and more companies are turning to the technology to reduce costs and
streamline operations.
Through Ooma’s Voice Quality appliance – available through thousands of retail outlets and e-retailers, Ooma delivers exceptional voice quality and the reliability of a traditional phone service at a fraction of the cost.
PureVoice is a collection of cutting edge technologies that Ooma has built into our product to deliver the best sounding most reliable and most secure calls over the Internet.
So, exactly how does this technology work in order to deliver the level of quality in voice calls customers have come to expect? Peng highlights that the solution relies on five main components to drive quality calls in every situation.
First, PureVoice technology uses a low bandwidth codec that relies on roughly one third the bandwidth of its competitors. Second, the solution offers high-speed quality of service (QoS) that allows Ooma to prioritize the quality of voice. As a result, if the Internet is used for other services, it does not disrupt the quality of the voice conversation.
Third, PureVoice includes adaptive redundancy built into its protocol. With this capability, if the Ooma device detects a loss on the network, it will be able to compensate for this loss and resend the redundant data.
Fourth, the PureVoice solution offers support for secure phone calls over the Internet. All calls are encrypted with high-end encryption technology to prevent others from listening in on calls.
Finally, PureVoice supports HD voice by expanding the frequency to 7 kilohertz to deliver more substantial, more natural sounding calls that are more lifelike representations of the human voice.
