HelloSoft Partners with Comsys to Launch TriPhone
13.06.2010
HelloSoft, a provider of VOIP and convergence technologies, in
association with Comsys Mobile, a fabless semiconductor vendor
specializing in communication processors for 4G mobile devices, has
launched TriPhone 4G reference handset.
HelloSoft unveiled this at the WiMAX Taipei, Taiwan, conference held June 1-5, 2010.
The TriPhone is a tri-mode mobile WiMAX/GSM-EDGE/WLAN reference feature phone. This feature-rich Android based handset is said to enable mobile WiMAX operators to achieve mass-market uptake.
With a comprehensive pre-integrated hardware/software reference platform, the TriPhone is said to incorporate HelloSoft’s optimized VoIP stack and Convergence Client suite running on its highly integrated ultra low-power HS100 IP convergence processor, and ComMAX CM1125 -- the industry’s only multimode mobile WiMAX/GSM-EDGE communication processor -- optimized for low power, small footprint and full mobility.
“There is a strong demand for low-cost WiMAX feature phones to address the increasing adoption of WiMAX globally. In particular, the market has a need for affordable tri-mode phones supporting mobile WiMAX, GSM-EDGE and WLAN, to meet the demand in both emerging markets and mature markets,” Ronny Gorlicki, executive vice president, Sales at Comsys (News - Alert) Mobile said. “The TriPhone enables OEM/ODMs to capitalize on this need by providing a turnkey solution for mass-production of such phones, built around the unique solutions developed by Comsys Mobile and HelloSoft.”
Both the companies combined solution is said to enable a cost-efficient, low-power, full-mobility Android-based feature phone with uninterrupted connectivity, seamless handover between IP based and circuit switched networks, a rich set of features and an enhanced user experience.
“The 4G TriPhone offers by far the richest feature set available anywhere for a 4G phone at a feature phone price point. This phone solves the dilemma 4G carriers have with needing a phone in their portfolio that does everything a user’s current phone does at a similar price point, at the same time providing 4G high speed data-on-the-go where it is available as carriers expand their 4G footprint,” Allan Johnson, senior vice president, Marketing & Business Development at HelloSoft, said.
