Media5 Corporation Announces High Definition SIP Mobile Softphone App for Apple Devices
09.06.2010
The worldwide acceptance of iPhone, iPod and iPad devices has contributed to Apple’s incredible growth over the past few months. Media applications vendors make use of this opportunity to sell their products and services through these “gadgets of the century.” Media5 Corporation, a leading developer of advanced Communications over IP products, services and developers solutions, announced the launch of the Media5-fone VoIP SIP Mobile Softphone V2.2 for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad models.

Media5-fone enables Apple’s devices to function as a telephone via Voice over Internet Protocol or “VoIP” technology.

The company offers a free edition as well as a full edition of the service.

Company officials claim that Media5-fone is the only softphone for the iPhone based on Session Initiation Protocol or “SIP” that provides “more than just basic call functionalities.”

The extra features included in Media5-fone are Call Waiting, Second Call and Voice Mail notification or “SIP MWI,” thus making it the perfect “iPhonea SIP Softphone” application for service providers targeting businesses and enterprises customer.

Additionally the new version offers improved end-user experience with the addition of a configuration wizard and a list of pre-configured SIP service providers. With this feature, users are now freed from the task of configuring SIP servers IP address and other advanced settings that are complicated for the average end-user.

Users can now use the flexible codec configuration facility as well as prioritize their network type (Wi-Fi or 3G). The Softphone also supports multiple SIP accounts.

The new Media5-fone offers high definition or “HD” voice quality with the iSAC codec compatible with Gizmo5 (News - Alert) / Google Voice account, and Wideband audio quality with the G.722 codec.

“Service providers can get their own White-Label edition of the application locked on their network and start offering mobile VoIP as a new service or as a valued-added feature to their IP-Centrex, Hosted IP-PBX and SIP Trunk portfolio of solutions,” company officials stated.
Pascal Doré, mobility product line manager at Media5, said, “The combination of ease of use on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, access from virtually anywhere via Wi-Fi or 3G connection, and the delivery of HD Voice Audio Quality offers the user a seamless communications experience. And this is not the end as we have other improvements and features in the pipeline already in-progress for the next release.”

Media5 Corporation has built upon the leading technologies of Mediatrix Telecom and M5T to develop advanced, secure, and survivable VoIP products, technologies and services for Service Providers and Enterprise Networks.

Mediatrix VoIP access devices and gateways are designed for the enterprise, SOHO, and Service Providers markets. Back in April, Media5 Corporation announced that the TR-069 Protocol for remote management of end-user devices has been successfully integrated into its Mediatrix line of gateways, TMCnet reported.
