Mobile broadband boom good news for VoIP solutions
10.06.2010
VoIP solutions could be significantly enhanced by the continued roll-out
of next-generation mobile broadband.
Nokia Siemens Network (NSN) has revealed that there has been a growing demand for Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband services.
LTE can deliver download speeds of up to 1Gbps which would improve VoIP call quality, while also rivalling many desktop connections.
Thorsten Robrecht, Nokia Siemens' head of LTE product management, claimed the firm is conducting 30 commercial network trials.
He said: "It's unbelievable how the momentum is growing, this is what we are seeing with our customers . . . there are big customers which I hope to get very soon under contract."
Mr Robrecht also confirmed that the firm are in talks with 15 major operators over the roll-out of the service.
Nokia Siemens was recently selected by Finnish mobile operator Elisa to provide the hardware for its LTE network.
