Sip solutions | Voipproviderslist useful linksSIP AT WORKIn terms of Cisco, SIP employs Cisco IP Communications infrastructure to include technologies that enable call routing, multiple types of media. Here are several examples.Find Me/Follow Me SIP can certainly be used to use new levels of find me/follow me services. A number of those are being defined in the IETF SIMPLE Working Group. At present, those capabilities have largely been limited to "off-line" or "online," but the possibilities foreseen by SIMPLE-and Cisco-are far more intelligent. Suppose an end user, while at a meeting is receiving a call from someone who is supposed to be in the same meeting, so the call processor directly conferences the caller into the meeting; other calls could be routed to voice mail. Applications can recognize the hints that indicate the best possible method to reach a user at any given time. The next-generation (3G) wireless systems will be able to recognize when a user's cell phone is moving, as well as its location. That data can be used by the SIP call processor to redirect incoming calls to the user's cell phone. Calling Preferences SIP - defined extensions present users a kind of new control over calls. When they are calling users may choose not to accomplish a call if it is going to voice mail. At the same time a user may indicate that calls from certain peo0ple should never be directed to voice mail, but be routed elsewhere instead. Telecommunication and Traveling The new capabilities help users who might be working from home or are on the way to use the same features that they use at their offices. For example, a user can plug an IP softphone into any broadband outlet and begin receiving calls. Interdomain Capabilities Many companies have created IP- and SIP-based systems that work inside a domain within a single company. Because SIP is based on IP, it is not limited to such single-domain use. Just as e-mail can be exchanged between any two companies with valid Internet addresses, SIP can initiate sessions between companies with different domains over the Internet. This demands security and authorization. As employees in companies learn more about SIP and its capabilities, they will see that features such as call transfer and conferencing can be used between different businesses if they support the appropriate standards. Desktop Application Integration Lets take for example a Microsoft Word document that has been edited by several members of a group. Each person's comments can be seen in the document, however a SIP-enabled document could also have contact information for each reviewer. Then with a click, any user can send an instant message to a reviewer, ask a question, or use presence data to find out if the reviewer is available for a phone call. |
