Cell C is reported to have started testing its HSPA+ network, capable of offering download speeds of up to 21Mbps, according to local press reports.
Cell C announced in late 2009 that it will be investing around ZAR5 billion (USD649 million) to upgrade its network infrastructure, something which will allow it to compete more effectively with Vodacom and MTN in the mobile broadband market.

In addition, Cell C said it has roaming agreements with 540 telecommunications operators in 186 countries, following its latest agreement with African mobile telecommunications provider Zain, Times LIVE reports.

The group also highlighted its data roaming agreements with 249 roaming partners in 112 countries.

In terms of its latest partnership, Cell C said that 41million Zain customers in all of Zain Africa's 15 mobile operations would benefit from its "One Network" services when visiting South Africa.
