Macau's Companhia de Telecomunicaces de Macau (CTM) has awarded Swedish technology giant Ericsson a three-year contract to upgrade its W-CDMA/HSPA mobile network to the HSPA+ (HSPA Evolution) standard, which will be capable of delivering 21Mbps data download speeds, whilst also increasing network capacity to meet growing user demand.
Macau's Companhia de Telecomunicaces de Macau (CTM) has awarded Swedish technology giant Ericsson a three-year contract to upgrade its W-CDMA/HSPA mobile network to the HSPA+ (HSPA Evolution) standard, which will be capable of delivering 21Mbps data download speeds, whilst also increasing network capacity to meet growing user demand.

Under the contract CTM’s entire 3G network will be upgraded to HSPA+ whilst the E1 2Mbps backhaul network connecting the 3G core and base stations will be replaced by an IP fibre network with 1Gbps connectivity capacity to each base station.
