FBI request Federal Communication Commision to keep rights on VoIP wiretapping
21.07.2010
The FCC been proned to treat broadband Internet the same as regular phone services
and with those moves, the FBI's wiretapping rights might be becoming more unclear.
FBI is trying to lobby Federal Communications Commission to make sure its changes
in regulation do not provide impact in frames of the Communications Assistance for
Law Enforcement Act which demands that telecom companies allow law enforcement
to use wiretaps on phone lines and VoIP calls.
VoIP wiretapping pledges has been udergone Courts several times unsuccessfully, but
changes in regulations could hinder wiretap efforts. It seems like currently FCC has
no plans to interfere with the wiretapping rules.
