GVT signals desire not to bid for 3G licences
16.03.2010
Global Village Telecom (GVT) says it will not take part in the
forthcoming auction of Brazil’s remaining 3G operating licences, local
paper Ultimo Segundo reports GVT president Amos Genish as saying.
In June this year Anatel plans to commence the bidding process to award the so-called ‘Band H’ licence for 3G services in the 1900MHz-2100MHz band.
However GVT, which focuses on fixed line, pay-TV and internet access services, intends to stick with its ‘core business’ Genish said.
The executive added though that GVT intends to participate in the bidding process for 4G technology, scheduled for 2012.
