Harris introduce new solution to merge Land Mobile Radio Services and 3G and 4G Wireless Networks

Harris Corporation, an international communications and information technology enterprise introduced its so called BeOn® solution – ‘’push-to-talk’’ solution created to enable enterprises to have managed group communications globally using both 3G and 4G cellular networks.
The Harris BeOn solution provides regular land mobile radio set of features such as group or individual calling, group scanning, distress calls, and dedicated administrative services, simultaneously integrating advantages of wireless services such as user location, user presence/status, and text messaging. In frames of the BeOn solution, customers are connected on a host of commercial smartphones or rugged devices with individuals or conference attendees over multiple GSM-based wireless carriers worlwide.

Brand new Harris' BeOn solution is created on the Harris integrated VIDA® (Voice, Interoperability, Data and Access) network platform, normally implemented by public safety, public services and other governmental, municipal or private entities. VIDA concept uses Push-To-Talk (PTT) over commercial wireless networks, as well as flawless interoperability with Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems. The BeOn solution is an innovative next generation global mobile communication attitude that is group-oriented, instantaneous and enabled for enterprise customers covering large global presence. Users will be able to build up centralized dispatch services over commercial 3G or 4G wireless networks and/or connect with legacy LMR system.

Dana Mehnert, Group President, Harris RF Communications said : "Given our expertise in mission critical communications and the proliferation of mobile broadband, we seized a market opportunity to create a scalable, global push-to-talk solution delivered over wireless carrier networks, which enterprises can deploy at a competitive price point while offering key LMR user benefits. Among industries with global assets, large footprints or rural service geography – such as construction, transport or field services, our BeOn solution satisfies the need for mobile, group- oriented instant communication."

Harris provides unique mixture of land mobile radio features and powerful IP platform to put scattered users into talk groups for enhanced coordination and operational efficiency. For instance, a cargo shipping company could use the BeOn solution to improve its delivery procedures and coordination for customers satisfaction and savings on fuel costs, or governmental services employees working in the field are better enabled for community services via more efficient managed group communications.
