Hong Kong Broadband Network (HKBN), a wholly owned unit of City Telecom, has announced that it has reached the one million subscriber milestone for its fixed network services, including direct fibre broadband internet access, local telephony and IPTV.

The launch of HKBN’s ‘Awesome Speed for Everyone’ promotion on 1 November 2009, offering symmetric 100Mbps fibre broadband for HKD99 (USD13) per month, prompted the addition of 38,000 net new broadband subscriptions in the following two months, the company said, equivalent to three-times the monthly growth rate during its most recent fiscal year.
