International Airport of Hong Kong has announced the commencing of installation process of Avaya's Aura unified communications applications, as the replacing of its legacy Airport Telephone System.
Avaya has an impressive industry performance records in segments of business communications and integration projects and services. The Avaya products are being planned to connect Airport’s main building with two giant terminals, and ensure HKIA with a stable communication platform that can be extended to support anticipated business growth and embed new telecoms technologies. For more efficient support of existing and expected demands, Hong Kong Airport was searching for a dedicated voice communications solution to substitute the Airport Telephone System with some kind of a hybrid platform for coverage of analog, wired and Internet Protocol embedded voice communications in a seamless and safe manner. The Avaya’s platform is built on Avaya Aura, the basic communications infrastructure, and is the compound of Avaya Aura Communications Manager, Session Manager, and Modular Messaging. The brand new system is built and managed by the SIP architecture, being based on open industrial standards and can cover robust content and utilities across a vast roster of associated devices. As an outcome, Airport will be capable to use both digital and analog telephones to speed up seamless migration and bring up minimal negative impact to the existing appliances. The system will be enabled for more than 6,000 end telephony destinations in the Airport including the major office buildings and two terminals, with the easy expansion options. Timothy Mak, regional Managing Director at Avaya, explained: "The Avaya utility will deliver to Airport a modern, secure and resilient voice communications basis to leverage airport communications and massively improve customer services. For a globally performing air connection hub like Hong Kong, telephony communications effectiveness and adequate responses to customer inquiries are of a top and vital importance. We are happy to be the partner of Hong Kong Airport in this essential stepping mark on the way to getting their future developments."
