Internode doubles capacity on Southern Cross Cable
16.03.2010
Australian internet service provider Internode has increased its capacity on the Southern Cross Cable network, and is planning to double its share of network capacity between Sydney and the US before June 2010 as part of a five-year deal with the company operating the cable.

According to iTnews, initially Internode has boosted capacity on the submarine link from 5Gbps to 7.5Gbps, and a further increase to 10Gbps will take place by the end of June this year. Additionally Internode has confirmed that it plans to see its share of network capacity of the link rise to 20Gbps by 2011.

Commenting on the development, Simon Hackett, Internode’s managing director, said: ‘The Southern Cross Cable proposition, with the lowest latency to the US and fully protected circuit capacity, is the highest quality Internet path to the US - hands down.’
