Japanese NTT Com starts internal VoIP Service for its customers
Japanese prominent telecommunications providing Company NTT Communications (NTT Com) announced that it will become country’s first telecom carrier to offer multinational customers a VoIP service for internal dialing between offices, including Japan, starting December 1, as well as plans to launch other new IP communications services.
NTT Com's VoIP service will enable customers to create crystal quality, global-wide internal dialing networks on a rapid, low-cost backup by means of IP technologies. Forwarding the phone calls will be as simple as dialing the local PBX extension somewhere in premises.

"Global companies have increasing needs not only for data networks, but also voice- related services for both internal and external dialing and fixed-mobile convergence solutions, as well as web conferencing and text messaging," said Mitsuru Takayama, Senior Manager of NTT Com's Business Network Services Division. "Building on our existing Japanese VoIP service, we now will begin launching a suite of global IP communication services, starting with internal dialing."

The new service will be offered through NTT Com's operated network for business customers, called Arcstar(TM) Global IP-VPN, aimed to prevent connection shortages sometimes encountered with Internet-based VoIP services. Connectivity with existing private branch exchanges (PBXs) and NTT Com's VoIP gateway service in Japan, as well as billing for calls on a fixed-rate basis will ensure costs minimizing drastically.

So called one-stop service concept provides the synergy of NTT Com's network and VoIP gateway infrastructure, incorporates voice and data, and includes facility operation and maintenance. Startup will cost just 11,000 yen per single office base, with expected monthly charge as 4,000 yen per base. The service will be accessible in 159 countries where NTT Com delivers Arcstar Global IP-VPN services.
