Alternative Spanish operator Jazztel has announced that its first-quarter revenues surged by 35% in the three-months ended 31 March 2010, with retail revenue from its voice and internet services climbing 56% and 47% year-on-year respectively.

For the three-month period Jazztel posted total revenues of EUR136.9 million (USD180.5 million), while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBIDTA) leapt up by 166% compared to the same period a year earlier, EUR15.7 million.

The impressive results also saw the telco narrow its net losses, and for the first three months of 2010 it posted a loss of EUR3.5 million compared with EUR16.2 million in 1Q09.
