Enterprise Cogeco Cable Inc. being the second biggest cable operator in Canadian Provinces of Ontario, Quebec as well as in Portugal, in matters of the amount of Basic Cable service customers served by means of two-way broadband cable networks, announced the acquisition of MTO Telecom. MTO Telecom, the major private telecommunications operator in the Montreal Area and the Province of Quebec, will be incorporated into Cogeco Data Services, Cogeco Cable's business communications subsidiary.
MTO Telecom covers the island of Montreal by more than 1500 kilometres of optical cable, and delivers services for carriers, businesses and public sector. Company boasts to ensure high-performance Ethernet broadband connectivity services and to be one of the most completed and multifaceted performance in the Greater Montreal Area, MTO Telecom has created one of the most sophisticated IP networks in Canada.
