Hungarian regulator the National Telecommunications Authority (NHH) says the number of ‘active’ mobile broadband subscriptions in the country reached 715,000 at the end of 2009, an annualised growth rate of 70%.

The previous year’s figure for active subscribers was 415,000. MTI-Econews reports that the overall total for mobile broadband subscriptions stood at 933,000 at end-2009, up from 865,000 a month earlier and 494,000 as at 31 December 2008.In terms of market share for active subscribers, T-Mobile was the leading player with 48.57% of the segment at 31 December 2009, down from 53.21% a year earlier, ahead of Vodafone with 26.11%, compared with 22.22% in December 2008.
