Belgian mobile network operator Mobistar has announced that virtual operator Tellink has signed a partnership deal that will see the latter switch across all of its customers to the Mobistar network.
It is understood that the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) will begin to port its 65,000 active SIM cards next month, with the process expected to be complete by end-September 2010. Mobistar has said that the deal will allow it to boost its market share in the SME sector, with Tellink focusing its service on the small business segment, and the deal falls in line with Mobistar’s strategy to reach specific demographics via specialised partner agreements.

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at the end of March 2010 Mobistar had slipped to third place in the Belgian wireless sector with a market share of 28.6%, down from 30.9% a year earlier, behind both market leader Proximus and second-placed BASE, the latter of which trailed Mobistar until the end of 1Q 2010.
