Green Cruise Phone for VoIP and PSTN Launched in Germany

Two German telecom
industry companies recently launched a new system, dubbed The Cruise
Phone, which merges a conventional phone line with Internet telephony
to create a single platform.
Junghanns.NET (a Berlin-based hardware manufacturer) and ADDIX (a northern Germany-based software development company specializes in IP phone systems) teamed up on the green-colored box that supports more than 40 VoIP accounts. The product was launched during the CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany, as part of a “VoIP is Green!” marketing campaign from the two companies.
Junghanns.NET contributed to the solution components necessary for ISDN network access. ADDIX provided the configuration user interface and software needed for the IP telephony functionality.
In addition to supporting 40+ VoIP accounts, the Cruise Phone box includes both basic telephony functions (call switching, three-way and conference calling, call waiting, direct dial-in) and more advanced features (call through, music on hold, customized day/night settings, ENUM).
In their announcement about the new product, Junghanns.NET and ADDIX said that Cruise Phone supports 15 simultaneous conversations over ISDN and VoIP (using SIP or IAX2). This, the companies said, makes the product “the first professional system that can be approved without restrictions as a replacement for the conventional telephone—at a fraction of the price.”
ADDIX has been providing software development and Internet services since 1992. The company’s expertise in the areas of telephony, Internet security, and networks has earned it a clientele ranging from small companies to large, international corporations.
Junghanns.NET GmbH was founded in 1999 by the Junghanns brothers: Jens-Uwe and Klaus Peter. They first programmed a CAPI driver, which led to using ISDN cards for Asterisk.
