The committee members criticised the former Bangladesh Telephone Regulatory Commission chairman Syed Marghub Morshed, who, according to the members, defended the interest of mobile operators when he was in his office.‘The government should take legal action against him [Marghub] who abused his position in his own interest by ensuring mobile operators’ benefit,’ Syed Mehedi Ahmed Rumi MP said at the meeting.‘He [Marghub] always advocated in the operators’ interests whenever we asked him to take steps to reduce mobile call charges,’ Mohammad Golam Morshed MP, another member on the committee, said. ‘But after his retirement, he [Marghub] has been leading human chain agitation programmes demanding reduced call charges.’
