Verizon Launches VoIP Suite for the International Market
2006-11-07

Verizon Business has made available its VoIP suite for the international market. The telecom announced on Monday that it also enhanced the suite to now include a Managed IP PBX service, extended European availability, local language interfaces, local ringtones and additional access methods. The move will now allow Verizon Business to enable international customers to easily migrate their voice and data services to IP technology.
Verizon Business has now made available its suite to six European countries by adding Belgium and Luxembourg to the U.K., France, Germany and the Netherlands. The telecom''s customers will now be also supported by local-language customer Web-based interfaces and local ringtones. Verizon Business also announced that it added a fully managed IP PBX service to its VoIP suite, which will now complement the portfolio''s IP Integrated Access, Hosted IP Centrex and IP Trunking services. The suite''s IP Integrated Access service allows customers to implement VoIP without having to get rid off their traditional PABXs. IP Trunking connects an IP PBX to the Verizon Business enterprise data network and public voice network by using a single IP connection. Verizon Business'' Hosted IP Centrex features a VoIP service delivered from a hosted and managed platform.
The telecom also added a wide variety of access methods to the suite, including BRI PABX connectivity for IP Integrated Access, as well as Ethernet and DSL access for all VoIP network services. The move will make more connectivity choices available to large enterprise customers that have sites of different sizes.
"Our VoIP portfolio is recognized as an industry-leading platform for IP transition, and we''re delighted that we can now offer our full portfolio to the international market. Our customers are increasingly moving toward an integrated IP environment, and our VoIP portfolio offers a perfect platform on which they can build their future communications solutions at their own pace," said Verizon Business'' vice president of international marketing John Irvine in a statement. Verizon Business'' global voice network coverage and in-country existing voice services will be extended to now serve European countries including France, Germany, the Netherlands, the U.K., Belgium and Luxembourg. Local language including French, Dutch, German and British English, customer Web-based interfaces and local ringtones are now available in these countries.
The telecom has also made site-to-site VoIP capabilities available in an additional 11 European countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Verizon Business has plans to extend availability of its VoIP portfolio to Asia-Pacific early next year.
In an effort to make additional access to fiber for customers globally, Verizon Business will make Digital subscriber line (DSL) for smaller sites available by the end of this year. The move will allow customer sites of any size the ability to connect and communicate across the Verizon Business VoIP platform. Verizon Business has been extending its footprint internationally with other VoIP service deals in Europe. Indeed, just last month the telecom announced it inked an IP voice and data communications service contract with The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC) in London. The Centre hired the telecom to install its IP Integrated Access, which as part of Verizon Business'' global VoIP services suite, will be used by The QEIICC to support its conferencing communications services.
Located in the heart of Westminster, The QEIICC, is a conference and exhibition venue of the Department for Communities and Local Government. This government agency is said to be one of the first to switch its telecom services over to a VoIP-based system. Verizon Business'' global IP technology will power services which will be available for exhibitors and the general public while visiting the QEIICC. These services will include high-bandwidth video conferencing and Internet services available at the Centre''s Internet cafe and wireless hotspots.
