Vodafone to offer DSL/VoIP over Tiscali 2007-05-31

Dutch mobile operator Vodafone Netherlands has announced the launch of new broadband and VoIP services to customers as part of its ‘mobile plus strategy’ for consumers, writes online news portal Telecompaper. Vodafone acquired Dutch virtual network operator TNF in 2006 and quickly launched a business-oriented DSL service. Based on the success of this venture it is now looking to take a slice of the consumer broadband market which it believes will want to take their services from a ‘trusted’ brand. The new 'Vodafone Vast Bellen en Internetten' service is being provided via a wholesale agreement with Tiscali Netherlands which will provide DSL connections as well as VoIP and minute switching. Tiscali's ADSL network currently has coverage of 60% of the population, but this is expected to rise once it is acquired by KPN and its assets are integrated with those of the larger operator. At launch Vodafone is offering its Vast Bellen en Internetten service at four connection speeds: 2Mbps/1Mbps (down/uplink) at EUR 29.50 a month, 4Mbps/1Mbps (EUR 39.50), 8Mbps/1Mbps (EUR 49.50) and 20Mbps/1Mbps (EUR 59.50).
