Windows CE-powered PMP to offer WPS, VoIP

The W10 has 8 GB of built-in flash storage media and a 3-inch "WQVGA" (480 x 272 pixel) display. As an audio player, it supports the following formats, according to iRiver: AAC; ASF; MP3 and WMA (8 to 320 Kbps); OGG Vorbis (up to Q10); WMA; and WMA9. Supported video formats include AVI, H.264, and MPEG4 simple profile QVGA. The W10 is also said to handle Macromedia Flash Lite 1.1 and TXT formats. For data transfer, users have the choice of a USB 2.0 port or a Mini SD slot.
Likely the W10's most unusual feature is its WiFi positioning system (WPS), rumored to be based on technology from Skyhook Wireless. This software-only system computes a device's location by using a nationwide database of known WiFi access point locations.
Another feature, shown in some of the company's photos but unconfirmed in writing, is built-in voice-over-IP (VoIP) software that would enable users to make wireless phone calls over WiFi. The unit's built-in speaker and microphone clearly allow for the possibility.
Calling the device "the media player of choice for technology freaks," the company has not yet set a release date, but has provided preliminary details of the product on its European and Korean websites.
