Xyrous Takes VoIP to Emerging Markets of the World with NexTone
2007-08-29

NexTone’s SBC and MSX Platforms Enable Innovative Carrier to Broaden International VoIP Service Reach
NexTone®, a leader in session border controllers and scalable solutions for VoIP, multimedia, and IMS network interconnects, today announced that Xyrous Communications, a VoIP network service provider to emerging markets worldwide, has deployed NexTone’s Session Border Controller (SBC) and Multi-protocol Session Exchange (MSX) platforms. Xyrous is using the NexTone SBC and MSX as its primary switching platforms to provide VoIP call termination to parts of the world where traditional carriers rarely venture.
“Xyrous was built around VoIP, and our company does things a little differently than other carriers — we go to places that not a lot of carriers will go. It’s important for Xyrous to deliver a high-quality and reliable VoIP service and NexTone allows us to make those calls happen,” said David Kovach, chief operating officer for Xyrous. “Once we discovered NexTone, their products became our core switching solution, with their efficiency and simplicity making it much easier to run our business.”
NexTone’s technology enables Xyrous to peer VoIP traffic and interconnect with its carrier customers and termination partners, including PTT’s and Tier 1 carriers around the globe, to terminate VoIP calls to any destination in the world. NexTone’s SBC provides Xyrous with consistent call quality and secure bilateral interconnects; the NexTone MSX interconnects SIP and H.323 networks and offers Xyrous flexibility and scalability for its growing VoIP network. NexTone also allows Xyrous to interoperate with many different vendors’ network infrastructure equipment and VoIP devices.
“Xyrous is a new breed of communications carrier bringing VoIP to such places as the Far East and the Middle East that historically have had geographical and political impediments for telecom carriers,” said Vic Bozzo, vice president of global sales for NexTone. “NexTone gives Xyrous a fast, seamless, and secure way to interconnect with a broad group of carriers to enter new markets, while Xyrous has helped NexTone expand its international VoIP peering carrier community to developing markets.”
