Hungary’s telecoms regulator the National Communications Authority (NHH) yesterday published its latest update on the broadband internet access market, noting a 15,000 net monthly rise in March 2010 for a total of 1.8 million subscribers.
The watchdog said that the total for ADSL lines was unchanged from December 2009, at 806,000, while broadband cable modem-based connections rose around 15,000 between February and March to one million. The NHH statement went on to say it has retroactively amended its counting methodology for ADSL connections due to the discovery of some incorrect data for previous periods.

Whilst Hungary’s broadband segment continues to expand, the fixed line telephony market is still shrinking. The NHH said that the number of landline connections fell to 3.03 million in March from 3.04 million in February, equivalent to a teledensity of 30.27 lines per 100 of population, down from 30.37 one month earlier.
