Enterprise NPD In-Stat tries to summarize the statistics about active mobile global VoIP subscribers, predicting the final 2011 amounts to be grown from 9 million in 2010 to 29 million, a dedicated report states. The foreseen triple growth in 2011 is primarily boosted by expanded smartphone penetration and widening spectrums of offerings.

At the end of 2011 company Visiongain has released executive management report "Mobile VoIP: Opportunities and Challenges Report 2011" stating the mobile VoIP market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 17.6 percent over the next five years to reach $36 billion in revenues by 2016.
