Company NTELOS Holdings Corporation, being the prominent provider of wireless voice and data services announced the partnership with global leader in CDAM (Code Divisions Multiple Access) technology Alcatel-Lucent, in order to upgrade existing wireless broadband network.
Ntelos works in industries of VoIP telephony, networking and high-speed Broadband data services, as well as IPTV based video products. Company is targeted to better serve its clientele in the US mid-Atlantic region, so currently nTelos exercises a dedicated expansion plan for its existing wireless broadband network in Hagerstown, Md.

In frames of alliance, nTelos is aiming to leverage Alcatel-Lucent’s EV-DO Revision A technology based high-speed wireless broadband solution. Alcatel-Lucent will also deliver its unique IP/MPLS solution, which consists with the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router and 7450 Ethernet Service Switch. The solution contains an enhanced array of professional services such as engineering, installation, integration, and project management. Modern trends demonstrates massive and widespread adoption and availability of smartphone devices, therefore nTelos-Alcatel-Lucent partnership will make nTelos customers in the Hagerstown area to acquire the full operational benefits of high speed wireless broadband services.

The innovative project is being sponsored and under the auspice of Department of Agriculture Rural Utility Service.

“Our Hagerstown customers will experience faster upload and download speeds, and new high-speed mobile data services including video telephony, high-quality music and other multimedia applications. We are particularly excited about the RUS broadband stimulus funding and the fact that this project will create local jobs and help drive economic development in the community,” Senior Vice President, Wireless Engineering & Operations for nTelos Wireless Bobby McAvoy noted in a statement.

Since 2007, Alcatel-Lucent has been delivering the CDMA technology across nTelos' markets in several US States such as Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and North Carolina, so the history of cooperation between Alcatel-Lucent and nTelos is well proven and reliable. “Expanding EV-DO technology to nTelos Wireless customers further strengthens our existing relationship and reinforces our commitment to helping our customers meet the high-speed wireless broadband needs of communities across the country,” Vice President of Sales for Major Wireless Accounts Sandy Motley noted in a statement.

Recently, nTelos announced the successful completion of end-to-end 4 G Long Term Evolution field trials in Waynesboro, Va. along with Alcatel-Lucent.
