Global telecommunications giant Siemens Enterprise Communications has unveiled a new session border controller, created specifically to meet security and interoperability challenges and requirements of SIP fundament operated VoIP traffic. The OpenScape SBC is designed and structured for SIP trunking termination from different service providers, ensuring that contact center or home based calling operator deployment scenarios are handy, convenient and cost-effective.
OpenScape SBC ensures secure connectivity from home agent deployment scenarios and from the enterprise data center to branch locations and hosted voice applications.

"SIP-based communications will be all-pervasive one day, so SBC functionality must be as well," said Zeus Kerravala, SVP of Enterprise Research at The Yankee Group. "While most SBC solutions today only focus on telcos and large enterprises, OpenScape SBC is addressing the need to provide cost-effective SBC functionality to Siemens Enterprise Communication customers of all sizes."

OpenScape SBC is designed for effective operations on industry-standard servers, providing customers with an fast and full return on investment. Product is being scalable to maintain up to 4,000 simultaneous sessions on a single server, OpenScape SBC is provided with local and geographical redundancy options. Application is designed to work specifically with the OpenScape Voice solution, with a graphical, unified management and administration interface. Siemens Enterprise Communications is planning to offer SBC solutions from its partner Acme Packet for large to very large enterprise deployments and for organizations that have standardized on Acme Packet SBCs.
