Sprint Nextel has corrected an earlier statement in which it stated that the HTC ‘Evo 4G’ WiMAX-capable handset's first-day sales volume was three times the combined volume of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the shelves.
The US cellco, which controls WiMAX operator Clearwire, clarified that the Evo did break the company's record for the highest number of phones sold on a single day last Friday, at six times higher than on the launch day of the Instinct and twice as many as on the Pre's first day.

However, contrary to the earlier statement, the Evo first-day sales figures were approximately equal to the other two models' combined volume in their first three days, TeleGeography reports.

The Evo 4G is an Android handset of HTC. It is considered to be the first 4G phone in the world that is able to work on WiMax networks. It should be mentioned that it is also a 3G capable handset. The handset is available with a 4.3-inch LCD screen, 8-megapixel camera, HDMI port as well as Android 2.1.

But one should mention that Sprint did not disclose the sales in numbers but said that it was three times more than the number of Palm Pres or Samsung Instincts during their first days of sales.

Still it is unknown whether the sale figures of iPhone 4 topple because of the HTC Evo 4G. Just let’s wait for some time, claims Mobile Phones.
