Taiwan’s leading operator Chunghwa Telecom by subscribers has revealed that it plans to increase its capital expenditure (CAPEX) to more than TWD30 billion (USD932 million) in 2010 as it looks to expand its fibre network infrastructure, Dow Jones Newswires reports, citing company president Shaio-Tung Chang.
Of the outlay, Chunghwa intends to invest around TWD13.5 billion in the deployment of fibre services, up from TWD12 billion in 2009. The company hopes to add ten million fibre-based subscriptions to its customer base in the twelve months ending 31 December 2010. In 2009 Chunghwa spent a total of TWD28 million on CAPEX.
