Teletalk finalising Chinese funding to launch 3G

Bangladeshi state-backed cellco Teletalk is expected to finalise new
funding from China to implement a plan to launch 3G services, the New
Nation reports.
The company has already received a 'positive response' from China's Exim Bank to its proposal for funding the 3G rollout, which its is estimated could cost an initial USD211 million. Bangladeshi Post and Telecommunication Secretary Sunil Kanti Bose and Teletalk Managing Director Mujibur Rahman are visiting China as part of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasinaprime's entourage this month to finalise the deal, according to an official quoted bu the newspaper.
Meanwhile, Rahman announced that Teletalk would use other sources of funding to implement a project to expand 2G network capacity from around 1.1 million to approximately 2.9 million, which could cost up to BDT7 billion (USD100 million) according to the report.
