The Montreal Gazette reports that Western Canadian-based full-service telco Telus plans to invest CAD250 million (USD248.8 million) this year to expand its networks in Quebec.

Telus Spokesperson Anne-Julie Gratton said the investment means several additional rural communities will get access to cellular wireless broadband services, whilst the company will also be extending its fixed line infrastructure in eastern Quebec, where it offers home phone services alongside high speed internet and television through fibre-optic cable.

The investment will allow Telus to expand its IPTV-based Telus TV product. In the last ten years Telus has spent a total of CAD7.6 billion building its networks in Quebec.
