Telus Corp has outlined plans to spend CAD650 million (USD649 million) in British Columbia in 2010, slightly down on expenditure of CAD700 million in the province in 2009.
The money will be spent on expanding the company’s broadband reach, particularly with regard to Telus TV. The IPTV service was soft-launched in 2005 and at the end of 2009 numbered 170,000 subscribers in British Columbia and Alberta, double the number from a year earlier.

The telco says it will also continue to expand its wireless broadband network across the province, building on its November 2009 deployment of HSPA+ technology with theoretical downlink speeds of up to 21Mbps. In addition, Telus will be spending CAD650 million this year in Alberta to extend its wireline and wireless broadband services in that province.
