Spain's data protection agency, AEPD has fined Vodafone EUR100,000 (US$120,000) after it accidentally published personal data of its prepay customers on its website, Expansion reports, citing Dacio Alonso, spokesman for the Spanish Consumers UNI0N.
The information published went beyond basic customer information to include their Passport ID number, gender and date of birth, typically sufficient information for identity thieves to work with.

The person who made the complaint provided a screenshot of twenty customer accounts that were breached, and claimed that the breach lasted at least a whole day. According to Vodafone though, the incident lasted  a shade over 16 hours and the company has implemented policies to prevent a recurrence.
