VoIP telephony giant Nokia Siemens goes in Bahamas with their softswitch
Telephony industry giant enterprise Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that cable and broadband service provider Cable Bahamas has chosen its dedicated Voice over Cable (VoC) cloud based platform to offer high-quality VoIP services over cable networks.
Nokia described the deal as delivering its hiQ 8000 softswitch platform, which builds a backup for high-quality voice services and allows Cable Bahamas to scale its implementation of next generation utilities. The platform enables the operator to implement network nodes in a much more optimized manner and incorporate the principle of geographic redundancy to ensure uninterrupted service by deploying softswitches in Nassau and Freeport.Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide its hiQ 4300 business communications platform to support business services including IP Centrex and web-based subscriber self-care. Cable Bahamas expects to launch its fixed line voice service in August 2011.
